I just finished "Annihilation" and I think the term "mindblowing" was invented for books like this, even though I first watched the movie (back then I did not knew about the book) and still remembered the ending. I am desperate for more narratives around nature. So far I read some gorgeous nature based Fantasy,but I want more nature thought experiments, no matter the genre.

I honestly don’t think people know how to write good dialogue anymore. Yes lots of writers do still have great dialogue but most audiences have such horseshit media literacy that they misinterpret any dialogue that doesn’t beat you over the head and force you to see the right message. You can’t trust audiences to see subtlety or metaphors so they just write brain dead straight to the point yapping that no real human would ever say.

Loved this series, also have you read prince of thorns? On a second note, i skipped almost every chapter from dorians perspective my first time reading way of shadows and fell in love so much i read the series, in full with his chapters, atleast 8 times so far

Wit is going to be Odium's champion. It explains the end scene with him. And, Dalinar and Odium "choose" a champion. Nothing about the champion having to agree to it. If odium wins or loses he's stuck in the system, but if they don't fight (because there is no time limit for the duel just when it starts). Hoid can't die and also can't fight.

The stories that authors, who are only authors because they feel compelled to tell the story that is in their head, are usually the best stories in my opinion. I love sanderson, don’t get me wrong, but I find George’s stuff just simply better. As much as sandersons novels are great, they feel too contrived and orchestrated. Sanderson is like a James Patterson of fantasy. You know what you’re gonna get. But people like Martin man.. he is the true goat in my opinion.

Have you guys read the prequels: The Will of the One, and The Will of the Two?

My favorite funny moment in the book is when Shallan is trying to talk the spren of the oath gate into taking them to the physical world and tries summoning pattern as a shard blade. Pattern’s just like “sorry!” From waaay over on the other side of the beads.

As someone who has read all the books except for "Bride," I felt personally offended by the ranking of "Divine Rivals"! It’s one of the best books I’ve read in a long time, whether it's epic, classic, contemporary, or romance. Ranking it lower than "The Daughter of Nowhere" and "The Bridge Kingdom" should be a crime! Those books have almost no plot, and their pacing and prose are nowhere near as good. The same goes for "One Dark Window." It has one of the most unique magic systems I’ve encountered in newer fantasy books, though it’s a bit lacking in romance. 😂 "Caraval," for instance, is nice, but I think it’s not dark enough for its plot idea. "Once Upon a Broken Heart" is more of a fairytale in a fantasy book, which I love and is one of the best books I have read for quite some time. "Fourth Wing" is a fun, no-brainer story with some grammar and spelling mistakes, if I recall correctly, but it’s a great guilty pleasure. It has a mix of darkness and mind-numbing romance with suspense, making it a great fantasy romance book. The books you chose are quite difficult to judge. Some have a real plot, while others are essentially trashy romance/sex scene books disguised as fantasy. It’s like comparing trash TV romance to a good romance movie. Great video idea, anyways 😂❤

Honestly they're great shows, and both deserve a ton of praise. I think what holds ATLA back is the wonky first half of season one and the stumbling ending. The first season feels like the creators finding their way with the story's tone, animation, and humor. The downfall of Azula feels rushed. And Aang finding energy bending feel like it came out of nowhere. Though to ATLA's credit, that was the first time they made that story, while FMAB was the third time though. So ATLA definitely deserves a lot of respect.

Also, apparently book 1 in the Gild series is the unfortunate hurdle you have to get over to get to the good stuff, but hey... at least the premise is cool!

You guys are hilarious. XD I really love your content and as a Romantasy (more fantasy side with romance) reader it was fun to hear initial opinions based on synopsis. I actually cant stand when books start off with great plot only for second half turning to smut and plot goes out the window. Its so important to keep plot going and not disregard story for all out romance haha. Divine Rivals was an eassssy 5 star read. Excession by Ian Banks for a funny, brilliantly imaginative, and well written book. A more obscure book would be Mallworld by S.P. Somtow - a very funny and unique voice .

Absolutely loved Annihilation, both the book and the movie. I highly recommend the movie but it is very different. Alex Garland took aspects the whole trilogy and combined them into one for the film.

This is one of those books so beautifully written that you don’t have to worry about spoilers. It doesn’t rely on tricks or gimmicks. It’s just a fantastic story that comes to life when read as a whole.

As someone who read many fanfiction. Gild is not that rapy xD for all the warnings it had I was shook (by how tamed it was lol) But it is bad. Nothing happens. 🤣
